COME TRUTHING
Seek not your truth in absolutes or axioms
What you’ll find there is comfort
Truth is not found in comfort, but in joy
Seek not your truth in revered and ancient tomes
What you’ll find there is knowledge
Truth is not found in knowledge, but in knowing
Seek not your truth in common understanding
What you’ll find there is provisional acceptance
Truth is not found in acceptance, but in singularity
Seek not your truth in scientific cannon
What you’ll find there is limitation
Truth is not found in limitation, but in imagination
Seek not your truth in philosophic doctrine
What you’ll find there are rules for living
Truth is not found in rules for living, but in the magic that is life
Come. Seek your truth as you would a bright wild berry
Crawling – on bare briar-prickled knees
Reaching – eyes wide and mouth awater
Longing – for that sweet fruit that teases you, tempts you, taunts you
From behind its curtained camouflage of glossy leaves
That fruit that is only for you
Because only you can see it
Come. Pluck your truth before it is one moment riper
Feel it yield into your fingers and brush against your lips
Feel it nestle on your tongue then burst between your teeth
Feel its seeds, its juices, its flesh as it fills your mouth
With truth
Then, if it be still sweet
Swallow
Make it a part of you
But know that when you share it with another
Likely they will say to you,
“I see no berry. Likely you are mad.”

Juicy~
I get that “mad” thing quite a lot. Fortunately that is part of my truth. Aho!
This is exciting to see. Thanks for the invite.
To celebrate this momentous occasion, a song.
“Rave on John Donne” – Van Morrison
I would say it’s part of you KNOWING your truth. Because the truth is (as I have observed it so far this time around) is that we are all “mad.” Because we all have things about us that other’s don’t understand because they don’t experience themselves the same way. And we all have things about us that WE don’t understand. And that can be experienced as “madness” or it can just be experienced. You inspire me, and many, with how you choose to experience your truth. (And Van is a perfect soundtrack for this reply.)
Well I’m no artist so the image is a bit open to interpretation – but if your berries are pomegranates then that’s YOUR truth (and a sweet one it is!)
Inspirational Dixie, I swear I could taste pomegranates when I read this. Nourishment for a weary traveler!
This speaks to my heart, and soul. It is beauty itself, expressed in words, and truths.
Thank you.
Thank you Shawn. I’m glad my truth touched a truth for you.
